About our Sauna

You’ve likely been in a traditional sauna... for about 5 mins...right?! Because that’s about the length of time you could withstand the heat in the room, BUT, an infrared sauna is different and much easier to tolerate.

A traditional sauna works by using hot rocks to heat the air in the room, then you get hot ‘cause the air is hot.

An infrared sauna uses infrared rays (the good part of sun’s rays ) that penetrate the skin and raise your core body temperature.  Infrared heat is all around us and you have felt it from sources like fire, heated sand on the beach and the sun (without the harmful ultraviolet waves that the sun gives off). Just as visible light has a range of wavelengths (running from red to violet), so does infrared light: longer wavelength infrared waves are thermal, while short or near infrared waves are not hot at all, in fact, you cannot even feel them. It is the far infrared energy that is most beneficial, penetrating the skin and increasing circulation to help rid the body of harmful toxins. Near and mid infrared enhance the benefits of far infrared.

Infrared heats YOU and not the room, so you’ll be able to stay in the sauna for longer and get a really good sweat on.

Our Clear Light sauna is full spectrum, which means that three infrared wavelengths are emitted: near, mid and far.

Why do you need all three? Good question! Well each one is good for something different.

Near Infrared

Near infrared wavelengths mostly penetrate the skin, improving skin cell health, the renewal of skin, tissue growth and wound healing.

When you go to a skin care clinic and they use LED light therapy on your blemishes - that’s near infrared they are using.

Mid Infrared

Mid infrared wavelengths penetrate deeper into the body than near infrared and are therefore good for increasing circulation and blood flow.

When used on a consistent basis, mid infrared sauna therapy has been shown to significantly increase blood flow and reduce muscle and joint pain. Healing can occur faster because mid infrared penetrates deeper into soft tissue where inflammation occurs, increasing the blood flow to that area.

Far Infrared

Far infrared is the longest wavelength which penetrates the fat cells causing vasodilation, where the fat cells vibrate to expel toxins, resulting in the greatest levels of detoxification and aids in weight loss

I've booked a sauna, now what?

The pre heated sauna is located within its own private therapy room, meaning that when you book the Sauna it will be only you (or your friends if you choose to bring them).  The Sauna Room will during COVID19 not be stocked with towels so we ask you to bring along at least two towels and your own water bottles.

We recommend you enter the infrared sauna undressed or with minimal clothing (Swimwear is a good option) and for hygienic reasons, we request that you sit on one towel for the duration of your session and use a second towel for wiping off any sweat.

During your 45 minute session you have the option to listen to our preloaded relaxation music or connect your own music/ podcasts via bluetooth to our speakers. The sauna has also been fitted with Chromo light therapy which offers some additional benefits, we will discuss with you these benefits when you arrive for your session.

An hour before your sauna try to drink at least 500ml of water.

If it’s your first sauna experience, please arrive 15 minutes early so we have the opportunity to sit down with you to complete registration and discuss your session.

We suggest you limit the amount of personal care products (deodorants, perfumes, creams etc) you put on your body before a session. The cleaner your skin the easier to cleanse and clear out all the toxins and impurities.

Be prepared to get hot and sweaty and enjoy some deep cleansing relaxation.  You can enter and exit the sauna as many times as you like during the session.

After your sauna you can opt for a cool to warm shower  The sooner you go for a shower the quicker you wash off any lingering toxins (bring along your own loafer to cleanse even further),  no soap, shampoo or moisturisers during your shower as this will just block up the open pores and reduce the post-sauna detox effect.

If you don't want to shower you can just wipe yourself with a wet towel.

Post sauna and shower please continue keeping hydrated by drinking more water.

Resting in our relaxation area for minimum 10 minutes before leaving the studio is also recommended - this will help bring your body back into balance and you can enjoy your glowing skin!

Go home, relaxed, rewound and rejuvenated!
